The Hunting Grounds in and around Fairbanks have been controlled by the Pure Tribes since the great flood of the 1960s. Until recently the only Forsaken presence was the Blackfeather Creed, a hodgepodge pack of survivors led by an inscrutable Storm Lord, Old Joe, who had claimed territory around the outlying community of Fox. Over the past decade a steady stream of young werewolves have began showing up in the area, looking to make names for themselves and carve out new territories. Often, these young turks were either driven off by the formidable Pure Tribe presence or eventually absorbed into the Blackfeather Creed. This all changed when the Pure outright attacked and burnt down the Howling Dog, a watering hole in Fox that Old Joe had designated as a Tur. During this time of tumult a powerful spirit, Zaf'iel - Herald of the Storms, loosed the bindings that had been put on it 50 years earlier and began warping and twisting the local shadow realm to his own design. The Forsaken, disorganized and weakened, had to regroup to confront the dual threats of Zaf'iel and the aggressions of the Pure Tribes. Two newly formed packs began to root out the Pure's influence, eventually eradicating the Ivory Claw pack that had claimed most of Western Fairbanks. Zaf'iel meddled in these battles, culling the badly wounded on both sides. The show of force against Ivory Claws was enough for the remaining Fire Touched to break off their hostilities. This allowed the Forsaken to focus their attention on Zaf'iel whose transgressions against them had not been forgotten. The Great Hunt was invoked, and Z'afiel was presumed destroyed... An assumption that became deadly when the Rank 5 spirit returned as an Incarnae after feasting on the chaos that occured worldwide on June 8th, 2009. While Z'afiel re-gathered power over the Pacific Ocean, the vacuum left behind a war between two powerful raven courts. The Forsaken sided with the trickster spirit to defeat Rot-Beak of the choir of death and Sun-Stealer ascended to the Obsidian Throne. Meanwhile, Zafiel made his presence known via the prophetic dreams of the Cahalith, attacks on local spirit courts, and an increasing number of Ridden. Over the summer of 2010, the Uratha managed to summon and bind Zafiel's lieutenants and set the catalyst for the final battle. With the help of a coalition of Pure and many of the remaining spirit courts of Fairbanks, the Uratha grounded Zafiel and discorporated him permanently with the use of a Spirit Anchor. Power has since shifted and rumors of a Pure Confederacy rise in conjunction with new spirit courts, magath, strange Azlu-like creatures. 2011 saw the return of the Predator Kings to Fairbanks' doorstep, and the founding Uratha packs of the area scattering to the winds. Tribal totem activity and the appearnce of changing breeds have unbalanced the usual equations and the Uratha of Fairbanks continue to struggle to work together and create new alliances. Will it be too little, too late, once again? |
